Consumers' use of mobile devices is increasing daily. They expect useful information immediately, right where they are. The most successful organizations leveraging mobile are rethinking and adapting their content, materials, and communications to the consumers' needs. They are integrating their content into more formats and making the content more personal and actionable. So how do you get started? Should you build a mobile app? What content should you make available on a mobile device? How do you create an ePub? How do you support a desktop version and a mobile version of your sites and the related content? Answers are rooted in methodology, not technology. Organizations need a plan to implement, support, and grow their Internet presence, and build a vision that includes a content strategy, technology infrastructure, and adds a way to complete the work on time and on budget. This presentation discusses “smart content, right context” —the process of designing and building responsive, future friendly solutions to consumers' ever-changing needs. We will focus on methodologies, standards, content strategy, and governance, as well as the presentation of content on mobile devices, desktops, and wherever consumers want to access information. We will discuss the need to achieve success quickly while designing and building a centralized environment to disseminate all content in the growing list of popular formats by applying the “One Web” vision. The presentation will review some existing issues and dilemmas, and provide initial solutions on how to get started and produce results rapidly.
