272462 Effective Communications for Publishing in Vision CareMonday, October 29, 2012
: 1:10 PM - 1:30 PM
Man is a social animal. We can neither live in seclusion nor can we perform scientific experiments and analyses working in a closed room with no communication with the outside world. In order to increase our visibility, we have to identify effective platforms that can assist in publicizing our achievements. One such platform is Scientific Publishing. A major criterion to successful publishing is identifying the right platform that will not only suit the content of the study but also attract the right kind of audience that can appreciate our work and utilize it in their studies. In this session, we will identify ways to: (1) formulate an effective cover letter to initiate a dialogue with the editor of different journals; (2) explain the highlights of the study clearly to the editors; (3) assess the differences in the requirements for publishing among different journals and; (4) name a few journals that can be excellent platform to portray vision and eye care related studies. I believe that after this session, we would have obtained sufficient knowledge that will help portray our scientific work to the right kind of audience using appropriate platform of journals.
