In the current political and economic climate, public health professionals must engage with policymakers to ensure that important health and social programs retain funding and political support. Understanding how to communicate with Congress is one of the most important and effective ways to inform policy. This presentation will explore specific strategies and recommendations for how to engage with elected officials—both in DC and in the community—and provide participants with an inside look at how to pull off an effective advocacy meeting.
