Oliver Fein, MD , Clinical Medicine and Public Health, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, NY
With the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010 and the Supreme Court decision favoring its constitutionality, many assume that health care reform has been accomplished. This talk will explore the limits of the ACA, by contrasting it with an improved Medicare-for-All, and make the case for the necessity of single payer reform.

Learning Areas:
Provision of health care to the public

Learning Objectives:
Discuss the challenges facing the current US health care system with regard to costs, access, quality, choice and a lack of primary care. Compare the strengths and weaknesses of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Single Payer (Medicare-for-All). Understand the principles underpinning a single-payer National Health Insurance program, in particular its cost-effectiveness and administrative efficiency.
