ADHA first proposed a dental mid-level provider, the Advanced Dental Hygiene Practitioner (ADHP)in 2004. Since that time other mid-level provider models have emerged and various states have begun to develop dental-hygiene workforce models based upon the competences established for the ADHP model. Ann's presentation will include a discussion of the evolution of ADHA's workforce policies, educational initiatives, and state advocacy initiatives.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: As the executive director of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) since July 2005 I was the first registered dental hygienist and the first former ADHA president to serve in this position. I hold a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in dental hygiene from the University of Missouri—Kansas City, School of Dentistry. I have held dental hygiene faculty positions at Northwestern University and Palm Beach Community College.
