American history provides examples of skepticsm and resistance to vaccination programs, as well as successful vaccination programs and popular acceptance of vaccination. Session 3232.0 presents analysis of experts whose work covers several periods of the United States' experience with vaccination, providing an intellectual history of vaccination that will help inform contemporary considerations for vaccination programs.
Session Objectives: Analyze historical and current controversies regarding vaccination policies and interventions, through several perspectives focusing on public health ethics.
