Session Objectives: Describe life expectancy in Chicago by race/ethnicity and by officially designated community area and identify disparities in life expectancy in Chicago. Explain reasons that disparities by race/ethnicity and dementia status would be expected for pharmaceutical treatment of cardiovascular disease in Medicare beneficiaries. Describe the presence of gender-specific disparities in mortality rates between non-Hispanic Black and non-Hispanic White Chicago men and women between 1990 and 2005 and explain the importance of the data in the elimination of health disparities. Describe the disparities in the HRQoL between home owners and non-homeowners among adults in the US. Describe racial disparities in access to quality grocery stores in Cook County, IL. and explain how changes in census tract demographics over time are associated with changes in availability of grocery stores offering healthy foods.
