Roundtable
Aging research plays a crucial role in the LTC practice, the presentations of this round table session cover the following topics: an Integrated nurse healthline program associated with significant cost savings, tossing and turning over geriatric sleep research: Issues in assessment of sleep complaints, development and dissemination of STEADI—a CDC Fall Prevention Tool Kit, Pre and post-loss needs of people with terminally ill spouses, academic and private partnerships to advance science: a collaborative and synergistic funding model, taking community action against pain disparities, effective segmentation of the U.S. aging population to improve the delivery of preventive health services , Characteristics of adopting and non-adopting sites, perceived versus actual factors associated with adoption and maintenance of evidence-based physical activity programs, prevalence of elevated fibrinogen levels and neurocognitive risk factors among middle to older age adults with type II diabetes.
Session Objectives: 1. Describe a Nurse HealthLine (NHL) triage program for older adults with Medigap insurance. Explain analytical methods used to evaluate the program from a cost standpoint. 2. Compare findings in sleep characteristics across qualitative and quantitative assessment methods. 3. Demonstrate the need for development of age-appropriate sleep assessment tools in a population of frail older adults.
