4415.0 Tools to Improve State Oral Health Program Infrastructure and Capacity: Use and Outcomes

CDC has funded oral health program infrastructure and capacity development in states for a decade, including technical assistance and creation of resource tools by CDC, the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors and the Children’s Dental Health Project. This panel presentation will provide an overview of resource tools created by all three groups, use of those tools by states, and some resultant positive outcomes. Examples of tools include Oral Health (OH) Policy Tool and Environmental Scan, Comparison Tools for State OH Coalitions and State OH Plans, State OH Program Guidelines and Competencies Assessment Tools and Program Reviews, Communication Planning Template, Basic Screening Surveys, Collaboration Evaluation Handbook, State Plan Review Index Tool, Sealant Efficiency Assessment, online fluoridation legal resource (FLUID), Water Fluoridation Reporting System, and various Logic Models.
Session Objectives: Attendees will be able to: 1. Describe resources developed for states by CDC, ASTDD and CDHP 2. Explain how states have used the resources to improve their oral health infrastructure, capacity, collaborations and preventive services 3. Discuss how these resources could be used in their states or applied to other programs
