This presentation will describe the advocacy and organizing strategies used by the Massachusetts Public Health Association to advance the Massachusetts Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund. The presentation will include how the proposal was developed, the coalition structure, engagement of legislators and civic leaders, and communications strategies employed.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have expertise in policy analysis, advocacy, strategy, coalition-building, and lobbying. I led MPHA’s campaign to create a $60 million Prevention and Wellness Fund, signed into law last year, and I have been instrumental in passage of legislation to improve school food, create a state food policy council, and create a strategy to support survivors of violence in health care settings.
