Monday, November 4, 2013: 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Oral
The Masschusetts Department of Public Health's Bureau of Environmental Health (BEH) and the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention (BCHAP) have been conducting health impact assessments (HIAs) in various areas of the state within a variety of sectors including transportation, agriculture (healthy eating/food access) and development. The Bureaus have recently formed a partnership within the health agency to enhance the efficacy of HIA work. The MA DPH has also collaborated with private partners to do similar cross discipline HIA work resulting in a more comprehensive approach to addressing environmental health risks while promoting opportunities for healthier behaviors.
