Come on, baby, don't say maybe: Gender-focused views of sexual health (a joint session of the Men's Health Caucus and Women's Caucus)

Monday, November 4, 2013: 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
For several decades, sexual and reproductive health programming has focused solely on women or has separated boys and girls leading to mixed messages across gender. This session will focus on how we can better integrate men into this programming to improve the health of all genders. Through this global dialogue, presenters will provide strategies, inclusive of both female and male voices, to address these important reproductive health needs at the local level. The session will specifically focus on gender reasoning for postponing sexual debut among college students, marketing techniques and health promotion concepts historically used to increase condom use among men, strategies to improve teenage pregnancy service delivery/programming by targeting young men more effectively, outreach to male clients through female clinic clients at family planning clinics, and integrating gender-responsive approaches into HIV prevention programs. In keeping with this year’s theme, presenters will represent both global and local experts on this important public health topic.
Session Objectives: Describe strategies for integrating male clients into female-centric reproductive health programming and/or services. Discuss lesson learned from gender integration projects.
