There has been an increased emphasis on emergency preparedness for hospitals in the United States following incidents like the World Trade Center Attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and other large scale disasters. Organizations like Joint Commission have redirected their focus on areas such as Environment of Care in recent years. Often the money for equipment flows in from Federal sources before proper educational planning and deployment can be delivered. Our video attempts to be a bridge for hospital staff faced with managing the issues of new equipment and training. The focus of this video is on the assembly and testing of a powered air purifying respirator motor for hospital decontamination in chemical incidents. This particular brand is commonly seen in Nebraska hospitals.

Learning Areas:
Occupational health and safety

Learning Objectives:
Demonstrate appropriate assembly and testing of a 3M Breathe Easy powered air purifying respirator for use in hospital decontamination of chemical agents.

Keywords: Professional Training, Safety
