Comparing manual and electronic qualitative data coding processes

Attendees will participate in a brief, informal (fun) manual coding exercise and then discuss how and why they coded the data in various ways. The group will them discuss coding challenges. Dr. LeRoy will facilitate a discussion on how the same data could be coded using software and options that software makes available, for example, testing inter-rater reliability, splitting and merging codes, documenting coding decisions and processes, incorporating visual images and audio recordings, and linking qualitative and quanitative data.
