Health care in Cuba - lessons we can learn and practices we can model
Based on their observations and interactions with health professionals, patients and students, presenters will provide a comparative analysis of the challenges faced in the U.S. and in Cuba , health equity and community-clinic integration. Visits to the following sites will be included in the presentation: neighborhood polyclinic; a community housing program; middle school to learn about student participation in HIV-STIs prevention education; socially responsible business development; medical university; maternity home for women with high risk pregnancies; HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment clinic; and a local social enterprise project.

We spent one week visiting several poly clinics, a medical school, a middle school, accompanied a doctor/nurse on a home visit, a HIV/AIDS clinic, a community transformation project and a maternity home. During the visits we talked with patients and staff. The delegation spent time in transit discussing our impressions and ideas for changes in the US health care system,
