The presentation will provide participants with the perspective of what working in an international setting entails. It will review what skills are necessary to thrive in sometimes challenging environments. The APHA delegation to Cuba will serve as the case study. This session will  discuss experiencing firsthand and reflecting with Cubans on health care delivery, schools, neighborhood projects, natural and traditional medicine, environmental protection, organic agriculture, art and culture and their role in building and maintaining healthy communities in Cuba. It will also highlight the exchanges that took place between Cubans and Americans as they share and compared perspectives and experiences in the USA.

Discuss some challenges working in country. Identify what practical public health skills are necessary for working in a global context.
