In the course overview I review the agenda for the day and provide background on the history and uses of digital storytelling methods in public health. I describe a narrative approach to health promotion, theoretical underpinnings to this approach (including narrative theory and culture-based approaches to health research and promotion), and situate the digital storytelling approach as a transdisciplinary method.

I has extensive research experience using digital storytelling, including a current Ford Foundation-funded digital storytelling project focused on research, training and strategic communications around sexual health, rights, and justice with young parenting Puerto Rican Latinas, and a NICHD-funded (R21) project
