Paul Cox, Civil Engineer, Vietnam Veteran, Board Chair Swords to Plowshares , Vietnam Agent Orange Relief and Responsibility Campaign, Berkeley, CA
This panel will discuss both well-known and not-so-well-known legacies of war.  The panel, comprised of two war veterans, a former military nurse, and a nurse educator will discuss the legacies of wars and the impact those wars had on them, their communities, and our nation.  They will provide insight into the ongoing issues left over from those wars.  From Agent Orange to PTSD, from poverty to militarism damage, from depleted uranium to UXOs—the damage war does lasts long after the bombs have stopped and the dead have been buried.   Wars always leave a public health crises in their wake.  But, since few countries or leaders are willing to pay the true costs of wars, they seldom perform an honest evaluation of previous wars.  This irrational behavior often leads to repeating mistakes to ruination.   The panel will outline strategies to end this cycle, in part by not letting us forget the ongoing damage of previous military enterprises.
