The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) is leading a national public awareness campaign, SpeakUp4SafeWork, which promotes local advocacy and action through the power of worker narrative. It is a movement committed to preventing injuries and fatalities among workers across the country by building awareness around the reality of workers and their efforts to demand for their rights. Local COSH groups with the support of their allies and coalition members, such as worker centers, unions, and community organizations, are collecting worker stories and using them in policy advocacy campaigns and organizing efforts. This session will highlight strategies that incorporate ideas, stories, and images in an effort to empower workers and worker advocates to mobilize around issues of workplace health and safety. The session will also highlight successful alliances with other worker advocate organizations that have effectively integrated worker health and safety with other worker issues.
