Bikeshare transit systems: Ubiquitous urban invitation to move
Bikeshare is popular with women and with men. However, a common complaint about bikeshare transit systems is that they attract a hip, healthy, homogeneous user group. By locating bikeshare stations in and proximate to underserved areas and desired destinations, providing a way for unbanked people to participate and offering non-threatening safety training and equipment (such as helmets), planners can engender higher participation rates among atypical bicycle users.
