Decision tools used to help women make decisions regarding reproductive health problems
Background :Reproductive health remains the leading cause of poor health and/or death for women of childbearing age worldwide . Women need additional information and tools to guide their decision making on reproductive health. Purpose: Evaluate the application and effectiveness of individually-tailored decision aids in decreasing reproductive health problems and guiding women’s decision making about their reproductive health. Hypothesis 1: The amount of decision aids for women’s reproductive health issues will be rare. Hypothesis 2: Decision aids tailored to Black women will be rare. Methods: Conduct a systematic review on the use of decision aids to address fibroids and disease related subjects (ie fertility, etc.). The review will be conducted following Cochrane standards for systematic reviews and the PRISMA statement for reporting systematic reviews . One reviewer will independently abstract data from the selected articles and then the other reviewer will review the abstraction forms. Information on the abstraction form will have 3 levels of data. This includes article-level data (e.g., authors, publication date,), study-level data (e.g., country, population, sample size, outcomes), and decision-aid level data (e.g., description, format, target audience, health issue, treatment options). Conclusion: The PI is currently conducting this research.
