Tuesday, November 18, 2014
State public health capacity to address minority health and health equity issues is critical in ensuring health equity of the nation. In 2014, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) conducted its third Health Equity/ Minority Health Survey to assess health equity efforts in the states and territories. This presentation uses data collected from the 2014 survey to describe the state public health infrastructure’s efforts in health equity. The survey was administered to 59 STHAs on February 2014. The data from the survey was analyzed using SPSS 19 and includes frequencies and descriptive statistics. The data also explores health equity workforce, funding allocation and expenditures, and strategic plans and partnerships. The analysis allows for comparison of data longitudinally and between the states and will be foundational for ASTHO’s efforts to support its members and the state public health infrastructure and of best practices research.
