In the 2010 US Census Korean's were the third largest Asian alone group in the United States and California had the largest population of Koreans. Cigarette smoking among Korean women is typically lower in Korea than in California. Evidence suggests that home smoking bans may be an important modifiable risk factor for smoking behaviors. To date there has been a paucity of research on smoking correlates and trends among Korean Women in California. Annual statewide surveys collect that health data of Californians, including Korean women, provide an opportunity to investigate the relationship between current smoking status and lack of home smoking bans among using consecutive years of survey data. Results and implications of the investigation will be reviewed and discussed.
