This presentation will provide an overview of the different software packages accessible to most public health researchers interested in pursuing an interest in mathematical models. These packages will be compared and contrasted based on their ease of use, utility in implementing models, and cost. A special focus in this presentation will be placed on software packages participants may already be familiar and have access to, such as Microsoft Excel, and popular statistical packages such as SAS and R.

  2. Compare packages based on usability, complexity and cost.
  3. Assess which software is most suited to the learner’s goals.
