The development and constant improvement of the Special Needs Registry, used to identify individuals who require special assistance during emergencies, enables first responders and emergency management officials the ability to understand the underlying medical and transport needs or New Orleanians and the resources needed to plan for, mitigate, respond to and recover from emergencies. The Special Needs Registry is available to any individual, regardless of age, who has a chronic condition, disability, special healthcare need, or may require additional assistance during a time of emergency. Individuals can register by calling 311 from a telephone or via the nola.gov website.
