Learning Objectives:
Define a pressing global health concern, that 1 in 7 children in developing countries die from preventible causes like dehydration caused by diarrhea. Demonstrate a public-private solution being piloted in Zambia to connect rural villages with basic household products that can prevent diarrhea and rehydrate sick children. Demonstrate a simple idea—putting medicine in Coca-Cola crates—and how a market-based solution could noticeably impact diarrhea rates in rural communities. Assess the intervention methods of the UK charity Colalife and its approach to local partnership in Zambia. Assess the status of access to health and market solutions to preventive healthcare in rural Zambia. Evaluate the first six months of the trial and report its penetration and impact in rural Zambia.
