One of the perduring findings over the last forty years is that immigrants do not easily access mental health services and, when they do, they frequently do not receive quality care.  This finding persists despite recent availability of evidence based practices and treatment, more culturally tailored approaches to mental health care, and more community based care. This presentation will consider some possible reasons for this finding, assess whether the Affordable Care Act will help change this pattern, and outline some future research directions about immigration, help-seeking and mental health care.
