In this talk I discuss the movement within the American Studies Association (ASA) to become the second major academic association in the U.S. to endorse Palestinian civil society’s call for an Academic and Cultural boycott of Israeli institutions. I discuss the nuances of the ASA resolution, the debate concerning the resolution among ASA members, and the public backlash and support that followed the endorsement.
