During the last 6 years, the Federal Substance Use And Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has engaged local leadership in 15 states to address the Triple Aim by developing integrated behavioral health and primary care projects. This presentation will set the context for this national session  on the Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration (PCBHI) demonstration program managed by SAMHSA. Trina Dutta (federal project officer) will explain the scope, purpose, methods and leadership development strategy that anchors projects located in 160 sites.  Lessons will be shared from the RAND Corporation's national evaluation. Insights from PCBHI will be offeredthat may inform multiple national efforts to develop  integrated service delivery models designed to address population health, manage costs and offer effective and timely services to individuals with complex conditions (mental health, substance use and physical health issues).
