Cancer diagnosis and treatment can have a significant impact on survivor work experiences, including lower employment rates and reduced working hours. Using data from the MEPS years 2008-2011, we examined employment status and job characteristics (occupational category, wages, hours worked, benefits, and employer-provided insurance coverage) in individuals 18-65 years old who were recently diagnosed with cancer (within 12 months), previously diagnosed with cancer (>12 months ago), and individuals who have never been diagnosed with cancer. We also examined changes in job characteristics of the current main job from the first to the last round (approximately two years apart) among the three study groups.  Results show the impact of cancer on employment trajectories.
