WKU-KPHA student chapter has won the best student chapter at the KPHA Annual Conference since 2009. WKU-KPHA chapter’s success can be attributed to our active presence in the WKU and Bowling Green communities. As a student-led organization, we hold true to our mission to increase public health awareness through community education and championing legislation that improves the welfare of the citizens in Kentucky and in the Bowling Green area. Our 45 student members have been involved in partnerships with American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, American Red Cross campus wide blood drives, Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates “Life is Cool” educational program, The Medical Center’s 10K Classic, and many more organizations and events. On WKU’s campus, the WKU-KPHA chapter is heading a petition for Smoke-Free campus with assistance from the WKU Student Government Association.  WKU-KPHA advisors and officers are motivated to assist in the promotion of health in the Bowling Green community through finding and sustaining programs that our organization can lead or provide assistance. WKU-KPHA also values that our members are involved in public health research. This year 2 students presented oral presentations and 8 presented posters at the 2014 KPHA Conference.
