The accreditation process can seem daunting for large jurisdictions. This presentation will highlight the efforts of Maricopa County Department of Public Health to achieve accreditation. We will discuss our approach to the process, some of the barriers we have encountered, and the lessons we have learned along the way.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have been the Performance Improvement Manager for the department for the past 4 years and responsible for the Public Health Accreditation activities in the department. I have been involved in public health programming design, implementation, and evaluation over twenty years. Maricopa County Department of Public Health staffs over 600 employees and serves the third largest local public health jurisdiction, serving a population of nearly 4 million people.
