Faith-based organizations play an important role in the lives of individual in the rural communities located on the Mississippi River, Louisiana.  The health and well-being of these communities are vital to maintaining rural life.  This initiative focuses on identifying the concerns, challenges and management options related to the health and well-being of the citizens of the River Parishes in the Greater New Orleans area. The themes of this initiative seek to provide community education on health disparities (i.e., asthma and cancer), educate how human activity influences the environment, and demonstrate how partnerships between churches, communities and other stakeholders can be productive.
