Raising awareness and stimulating action among policymakers and the public and private sector is essential for change. This overview will set the stage for how research, community engagement and communication converge to achieve action

Explain the importance of social determinants of health. Discuss the mission of the Center on Society and Health and the Education and Health Initiative. List the four ingredients for successful presentation of evidence to the public and policymakers. Explain the importance of engaging the policy world and the EHI strategy for targeting policymakers in education and health—in government and the private sector—at the national level, state, and local levels.
