Morgan Hynd , Maine Health Access Foundation, Augusta, ME
Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF) has implemented a variety of strategies to support the successful implementation of the law in Maine.  The foundation has funded statewide and community-based outreach and education efforts, a Marketplace enrollment promotion campaign, and has worked with new partners in the private sector, all of which helped Maine to have a highly successful first open enrollment period on the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Learning Areas:

Provision of health care to the public

Learning Objectives:
Describe philanthropy’s role in the successful implementation of the ACA in Maine and why the state had the highest enrollment numbers per-capita of all the federally facilitated Marketplace states.
