Future of Rapid PE and its adaptability to public health
Monday, November 17, 2014
: 11:15 AM - 11:35 AM
Fiscal accountability is a top priority for both governmental and non-governmental agencies. In a resource-constrained environment, the novel approach to rapid evaluation implemented by the Defense Centers of Excellence to evaluate Defense Department psychological health and TBI programs can be adapted to the broader public health community in evaluating and comparing a wide range of programs. This easily modified and flexible rapid evaluation methodology draws on the fundamentals of program evaluation and can be used as a valuable tool for time-sensitive assessment and evaluation of an individual program or a portfolio of public health programs at different stages of maturity. As federal and state governments and public and private institutions increasingly call for evaluation of new and existing programs to ensure program effectiveness, impact, and cost utilization, rapid approaches for evaluating and comparing programs will become more common, particularly in the public health community. As such, benefits for the public health community in adoption of rapid evaluation methodologies will be discussed.
