The Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative (“Initiative”) is a national foundation focused on promoting successful transitions from foster care for youth and young adults.  Youth engagement is a core component of the Initiative’s community-based strategies being implemented in 18 states.  The foundation is collaborating with the Office of Adolescent Health through its “Adolescent Health: Think, Act, Grow” effort to share its insights and strategies on youth engagement.  This presentation will provide an overview of the Initiative’s role as a collaborating organization in TAG, feature the Initiative’s principles of youth engagement, and showcase examples of how the Initiative’s principles on youth engagement can be applied to TAG’s goals of promoting adolescent health and healthy development, specifically in regard to the action steps being promoted through TAG.  A Jim Casey Young Fellow (TBD) will co-present, sharing their perspective on how to effectively engage young people in the health arena.
