For more than 106 years, Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc. have provided healthcare globally to its communities.  AKA is an organization consisting of college-educated women of many diverse backgrounds from around the world, including, but not limited to, African, Caucasian, Asian, Native American, Hispanic and Indian descent, the sorority serves through a membership of more than 260,000 women in over 954 chapters in the United States and several other countries (Germany, Japan, The Bahamas, Liberia, Jamaica, United States Virgin Island, Bermuda, Canada, and South Korea).

Provision of health care to the public

Learning Objectives:
Define implementations of AKA’s healthcare projects (i.e., Mississippi Health Project, HIV/AIDS, asthma, etc.) and social programs. Describe how to provide disaster relief to victims from Hurricane Irene, Dennis, Katrina, Sandy, etc.
