As the demand for public health workers in New Jersey increases, the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University has served as a key center for public health education. While this institution is renowned for its academia, the New Jersey Public Health Association Rutgers Student Chapter (NJPHA-RSC) is a crucial asset in bridging the gap between theory and practice. Although only established in 2011, NJPHA-RSC has exposed students to career paths of the multifaceted workforce, introducing them to professionals and internship opportunities. NJPHA-RSC focuses on assessing the needs of New Brunswick, but also provides health education to students throughout the state. In collaboration with the state affiliate, NJPHA, the student chapter has grown tremendously in its three years of existence. Fostered by strong leadership on its Executive Board, students successfully advocate public health initiatives on campus through networking, panel discussions, documentary screenings, outreachand volunteeringevents.
