Phil Sparks is the co-founder of the Communications Consortium Media Center (CCMC) and currently the Consultant and Co-Director, The Census Project. This session will provide a summary of major changes and proposed changes to the census and the political driving forces behind these changes.  Census information provides pivotal information relevant to public health decision-making; public health practitioners need to be aware of.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I co-founded Communications Consortium Media Center (CCMC) in 1988, and rejoined the organization in March 1998 after a three-year hiatus serving as associate director for communications of the U.S. Census Bureau. I specialized in family projects at CCMC, including the Family and Medical Leave Coalition, the Act for Better Child Care Coalition, Census 2000, the Fairness Initiative on Low-Wage Work, the Coordinated Campaign for Learning Disabilities and the Early Care and Education Collaborative, among others.
