This presentation will focus on the emerging collaborations to address the unique needs of practicing architects as they advocate, design, and support population health in ways beyond regulatory minimums to protect the health, safety, and welfare (HSW) of the general public. A robust and mutually-understood vocabulary is an essential foundation for embedding critical, measurable health-promotion strategies in the policy, design, and evaluation of the built environment.

Explain the unique roles and needs of architects in the design and construction of a measurably healthier built environment. Identify core programs and collaborations for public health professionals to connect with and advise architects and built environment professionals. Describe ongoing efforts to support a common vocabulary across built environment and public health disciplines.
