Session Objectives: Discuss the potential impact of the Medicaid expansion on homeless veterans. Discuss the association between TBI and mental health diagnoses, self-reported suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and negative psychiatric outcomes among Veterans seeking homeless services. Describe how SAMHSA’s SOAR model of expediting access to disability benefits can be used to assist Veterans who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Discuss best practices and program adaptation for special populations, 'not yet reached' and hard to reach homeless Veterans.
