Oral
This year’s Agnes Higgins Award recipient and nationally-recognized expert, Dr. Mary L. Hediger, will discuss how maternal nutrition and nutritional status affect fetal growth, preterm delivery, and infant growth and development. Dr. Hediger’s presentation will examine contributions and collaborations in these areas and how the science, with the ultimate goals of prevention and intervention, has developed in the last quarter century. A reception in Dr. Hediger’s honor will immediately follow. All are welcome to attend.
Session Objectives: Identify how maternal nutrition and nutritional status have been found to play a role in fetal growth and preterm delivery and in subsequent infant growth and development. Describe the development of knowledge in these areas and how it will lead to public health programs for prevention and health care for intervention.
