This session will highlight current research and practice related to environmental issues impacting infants and young children, particularly relating to child care settings. Topics include epidemiology, prevention, policy, standards, practice, and/or effectiveness of intervention programs. Panelists will include members from academia, federal and state public health agencies, non-profit organizations, and advocacy groups.
Session Objectives: Objective 1: Examine emerging issues and challenges in environmental management and policy within the child care settings Objective 2: Describe the populations of infants and young children who are in child care and are most at risk of exposures to environmental hazards Objective 3: Discuss key environmental health hazards found in and around child care facilities. Objective 4: Understand why children have unique vulnerabilities to harmful chemicals in the child care environment. Objective 5:Identify steps to prevent or mitigate exposure to these hazards
