Quad Council Roundtable on Taking Action for the Future of Public Health Nursing
Sunday, November 16, 2014: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Roundtable
The Quad Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations endorsed a national invitational conference supported by HRSA and the RWJF Executive Nurse Fellows program. This conference built on the work of RWJF, the Quad Council, and the recent AACN-CDC Cooperative Agreement to enhance public health knowledge and skills in nursing, and the American Academy of Nursing's recent work on the future of PHN. The purpose was to develop an action plan for the PHN specialty for the next 3-5 years. Participants, assigned to one of three topic areas including education, practice, and research, developed goals and objectives for the next five years in each group. Each group included a variety of disciplinary expertise and a professional facilitator. The results of this effort are being adapted to create a strategic plan for the specialty, to be endorsed by the Quad Council and its member organizations. This session will introduce the Strategic Plan to the audience, and involve small group work on developing action steps for key elements of the plan.
