Poster
The increase in the number of refugees and immigrants populations globally, and domestically in the US, calls for examining barriers they experience as they adjust to their new environment, specifically the challenges they experience in maintaining their health. In addition, it is also important to examine what enablers promote health among these populations. As such, the proposed session will address these issues and demonstrate ways in which health professionals can be of assistance to refugees and immigrants in improving their health.
Session Objectives: Identify the contextual (personal, social, cultural, and environmental) factors influencing the health-seeking behaviors of immigrants
Identify barriers to health services in refugee and immigrant communities
