Wednesday, November 4, 2015 : 9:10 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Deborah Hoyer, MPH, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Department of Health and Human Services, Rockville, MD

Established in 1979, the Healthy People initiative establishes ten-year, science-based, disease prevention and health promotion objectives and targets to improve the health of the Nation. The initiative’s over 1200 objectives monitor progress in forty two specific topic areas.  It is the vision of Healthy People that achievement of the targets for these various objectives will result in the improvement of the health of the Nation. As improvements are observed across various objectives, the goal is to see all population groups improve. A health in all policies approach helps ensure progress is occurring across all groups.

A health in all policies approach was integrated into the design of The Healthy People 2020 framework, Foundation Health Measures and the Leading Health Indicators to help visualize this goal of a society where all people live long, healthy lives. During this presentation you will learn about the development of the Healthy People 2020 framework, Foundation Health Measures and Leading Health Indicators.
