PHEHP Student Awards Contest

Meeting theme: "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Strengthening Social Connectedness"

Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 21, 2021

*THIS IS THE STUDENT AWARDS CONTEST FOR PHEHP. THE FIRST AUTHOR MUST BE A STUDENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SUBMISSION.  IF YOU ARE SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT FOR THE REGULAR PHEHP CALL, DO NOT SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT HERE*

The Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section (PHEHP) of the American Public Health Association announces a call for abstracts for a dedicated student oral session and a dedicated student poster session at this year’s annual meeting.  Students are encouraged to submit abstracts that relate to the conference theme as well as other themes related to public health education and health promotion.  Student awardees can be active at the doctoral, masters, or undergraduate level. Five student awardees will be invited to present their work in an oral session, and ten student awardees will be invited to present their work in a poster session at the conference and will receive a certificate for their participation. Students are also eligible for a stipend ($200 per oral session first author, $100 per poster session first author) if all required information is provided.[1]  The five highest-scoring abstract first authors will be invited to present at the oral session, and the next ten highest abstract first authors will be invited to present at the poster session.  We are interested in student abstracts that show an individual student’s work on an applied research or evaluation project, abstracts designed to document the community health education and/or health communication work of a student or group of students or projects that contribute to the translation of research. The student submitter must be the first author.  Multiple student authors are acceptable, but only the first author will receive the stipend and certificate.  Faculty members may not be the first author.  The student author or an author from the student group must register for and attend the conference to accept the award.  Abstracts are limited to 250 words and must include at least 2 learning objectives.

[1] If selected, you will be required to submit your social security number and home address to obtain your stipend (for tax purposes).
