This presentation will focus on strategies that can be used by local health departments to address health inequities. Core strategies include data collection and communication, community investment and policy change. An institutional framework will be described that includes developing institutional competencies, building community capacity, and strengthening partnerships.

Prior to joining the Boston Public Health Commission, she spent five years at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health -- first as Director of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention and later as Director of the Division of Maternal and Child Health.
