1003.0 Achieving health equity:Solutions from the field

Tuesday, June 26, 2012: 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Oral
The health of a population is dependent on the health of individuals within that population. Unless interventions at the individual level and at the community level consider the health of all within that community, then inequities in health status will persist. Public health, acting as the ethical compass for addressing health inequities in every community in the United States, must understand best and promising practices to promote health equity and advocate for their incorporation into daily life. This session will focus on strategies to move health equity to the forefront of public health priorities.
Session Objectives: 1. Articulate the impact of changing demographics on the health status of U.S. communities 2. Describe effective interventions for ensuring that health equity is a priority for public health improvement planning in each community 3. Discuss ways in which improvements in health equity can be sustained over time
